Great News for Home Buyers!
The home buyer tax credit has been extended as well as expanded!
If you have not owned a home in the last 3 years, you are considered a first time home buyer. You can still get a tax credit up to $8,000 for having a contract on a home by April 30, 2010 and closing on that home by June 30, 2010.
The credit has also been extended to those purchasing their next home within the same time frame. This tax credit is reduced to $6,500, and phases out above certain income limits. To qualify for the tax credit, the home you are selling has to have been your primary residence for at least the last 5 years.
